Section 1: General Features
THE GENERAL FEATURES
- Light yet solid base for supporting a wide range of firearms.
- Adjustable elevation V-Block to fit a wide range of firearms and uses
- Leather pad for shooter comfort and to cushion and protect firearm.
- Leather cover on V-Block to cushion and protect firearms
- Machined threads on underside of base to allow installation on most standard tripods and monopods, allowing standing shots at different heights.
The V-Block is machined to allow a wide range of barrels, stocks and pistol frames to be supported while being cushioned by the leather to prevent harmonic vibrations and damage to firearm.
On Steady Rest with bare finish, the owner can leave the aluminum as is or use any coating they desire. Paint, camo, Cerakote, powder coat, vinyl overlay and many other options that are applicable to aluminum can be used. This allows for customization and personalization while keeping the price reasonable.
On Steady Rest with optional powder-coat finish, the Rest is protected with a strong finish and will require only a light wipe down after use. The Steady Rest is designed to be easy to carry and will also tilt into and fit in a standard .50 cal. ammo box perfectly, allowing it to be packed with other useful items when shooting.

Section 2: Steady Rest Use
USING STEADY REST ON BENCH OR OTHER FLAT SURFACE
Set Steady Rest on surface, making sure it does not rock or tilt. Upright should be toward target, with pad toward shooter. Clear your firearm of all ammunition.
Place cleared pistol or rifle on Steady Rest and check for comfort and elevation toward target. Adjust front V-Block up or down by loosening both lever locks and sliding to desired height.
Finger tighten sufficiently to hold V-Block in position (do not overtighten). Recheck elevation
MOUNTING STEADY REST ON TRIPOD OR MONOPOD
There are 3 options for mounting the Steady Rest to a tripod or monopod.
- Base – The base is threaded the common 1/4” -20 on the underside to allow mounting a standard quick connect to a tripod. It can also be permanently mounted if the owner desires. This is best for pistol use to allow support of the shooter’s hand.
2. Upright – The upright is threaded with the common 1/4” -20 on the underside to allow mounting a standard quick connect to a tripod. It can also be mounted to a monopod or threaded walking stick. Mounting this way will still allow fine elevation adjustments using the V-Block.
3. V-Block – The V-Block is threaded with the common 1/4” -20 on the underside to allow mounting a standard quick connect to a tripod. It can also be mounted to a monopod or threaded walking stick.
STORING THE STEADY REST
You can store your Steady Rest in a standard military issue .50 cal. ammo box. To place the Steady Rest into an ammo box, place rear of the Rest into the box with front tilted up.
Ensure that the rear is against the rear wall, then tilt front down into box. To make Steady Rest very secure, adjust the V-Block up so that light contact is made with the lid when the lid is fully locked down.Towels or cardboard can be used to shim Steady Rest and protect from scratching.
ACCOMMODATING LONGER BARRELS
V block can be mounted towards rear ( standard ) for semi autos or towards the front ( opposite ) for revolvers.
Section 3: Care and Cleaning
PROPER CARE AND CLEANING
- Disassembly is not necessary for normal service.
- The main American aluminum parts should not require much maintenance; simply clean before storage. A light coat of WD-40 or oil will ensure a lifetime of service.
- The Steady Rest can handle reasonable amounts of moisture and dirt. Wipe off any contaminants using a soft, dry towel. The leather surfaces should be kept as clean and dry as possible to prevent the transfer of contaminants to the firearm.
- Treat all hardware as you would a quality rifle. Lubricate regularly to protect finish and prevent corrosion.
- Wipe excess oil from the Rest and store in a dry atmosphere. It will tilt in and fit perfectly in a standard .50 cal. ammo box.
Notes and Tips
- The Steady Rest can be used while shouldering a
rifle, with a sandbag at the rear, or when using our Master Series Rear Rest.
- The Steady Rest will accommodate most typical hunting and sporting rifles. If your rifle is designed for bench-rest shooting and is mounted in a much larger stock, it may not fit the V-Block.
- Gripping the rifle securely, ensure the V-Block firmly cradles the rifle’s forend. Any movement to the side will cause inaccuracy. Rifle should be supported so all movement is limited to fore/aft recoil only.
- The Steady Rest can be used while holding a pistol, using the pad to support the grip/magazine area. Or, if the pistol does not extend below the shooter’s hand(s), the pad can be used to provide support to the hand itself.
- If horizontal target adjustment is desired, it is better to move the Steady Rest instead of tilting the firearm in the V-Block. Tilting will not support fully and can expose the firearm to a “sharp edge” that will rub during recoil.
- Our main goal is to provide a steady rest platform, ensuring that your rifle can be returned to the same start position (battery) each time.
- The Steady Rest was designed for practice shooting and to provide a useful, economical platform for new and experienced shooters alike.
- While the Steady Rest was designed to test for basic repeatability and accuracy while teaching basic firearms handling, we would recommend our other products specifically designed for serious testing.
