Linear Remote Pull Manual
Linear Remote Pull
We believe this Remote will give you a lifetime of use. Great care and attention have been taken in designing and manufacturing this product. Please read the section “About Your Linear Remote Pull” following these installation instructions. There you will find additional, valuable and interesting information. We hope you enjoy this tool.
About - Your Linear Remote Pull
The Linear Remote Pull was born as a result of the shooting public’s renewed interest in revolvers and additional innovations in the Double-action/Single-action (DA/SA) semi-automatic pistol markets. It was apparent our Gen 1 cable-pull remote trigger was not up to the testing requirements of these new double-action market interests.
The Linear Remote Pull was designed to allow for the much longer and stronger trigger pull required during testing of double-action revolvers and DASA semi-autos. Some revolvers and semi-autos can require up to 20 ft/lbs of pull to fire the weapon. The LRP takes them all in stride!
When designing this remote, we wanted to achieve a stronger double-action pull ability, improve the trigger adjustment capability and solve the long-reach torque issues we knew we would encounter. The linear pull concept came to life with all the strength necessary and net-zero-firing-process disturbance to the firearm. All this while increasing the trigger-travel-distance capability and creating a straight-line trigger pull.
All this is accomplished in the sturdy, robust design you see before you; we like to call it the Linear Remote Pull (LRP), Gen 2.
Linear Remote Pull Compatibility and Construction
- The LRP is compatible with and mounts to the current Ransom Master Series Rest Basic, Master Series Combo Rest and all previous versions since the original 1960s Ransom Rest.
- The LRP body is a Heavy-Duty base machined from 6061 Aerospace grade aluminum alloy.
- The slide key and key ways are machined from high grade structural steel.
- The original Trigger Finger & Shoe is designed to be fully compatible throughout the Ransom Rest lines. The two threaded holes in the “Shoe” enable the “Trigger Finger” to address a virtually-limitless number of trigger positions presented by the wide variety of firearms available in the market place.
- The LRP is controlled by a braded pull-cable and housing.
- All LRP parts are American made, including the handgrip and the trigger lever.
Live fire with the Linear Remote Pull
- We recommend you dry fire your unloaded firearm to verify trigger function and adjustment before any live fire test.
- Warning Note: Because the Ransom Master Series Rest and the attached Linear Remote Pull MUST ALWAYS be returned to battery before each shot. These Rests with attached remote Pulls were never intended to be used with multipleround-burst firearms or full-automatic firearms. If the Rests are misused in this way, the firearms used could cause catastrophic injury or even death
- Ensure the Rest is returned to the battery position before each shot by pressing the Thumb Shelf on the Rest adjacent to the Elevation Thumb Screw
- Listen carefully to each shot fired and be mindful of any abnormal operational or mechanical sound; that sound may signal trouble! If any such sounds are heard, cease fire immediately and resolve the issue before resuming live-fire testing.
Linear Remote Pull Operational Things To Know
Adjusting the Trigger Finger to the trigger of your firearm
Warning Note: Remove ALL ammunition from your firearm BEFORE proceeding any further with these instructions. This includes: remove the magazine and the round in the chamber of the semi-auto pistol OR remove all the rounds in the cylinder of the revolver.
- Through the slot in the face of the LRP body, loosen the screw (1/8 turn) holding the Trigger Finger & Shoe to the Slide Key
- The Trigger Finger & Shoe can be wiggled and turned to any position on the loosened screw to accomplish the proper Trigger Finger placement. If the Trigger Finger simply cannot be placed to allow the firearm to function properly with the current screw setting, remove the screw from its current location in the Trigger Shoe. Then reposition the screw in the other screw hole in the Trigger Shoe
- Position the Trigger Finger just slightly below the midline of the firearm trigger and 1/8” in front of the trigger. Then firmly re-tighten the screw attaching the Trigger Finger & Shoe. Now, verify the position of the Trigger Finger remains positioned as instructed above.
- Dry fire the UNLOADED firearm to confirm satisfactory functionality, including that the trigger does perform a reset.

Linear Remote Pull
Step 1
To use this new LRP remote, you must first remove the current trigger mechanism. So, here it is step by step with the “how to”. First, remove the trigger bar from the A stud using a 3/8” Nut driver.
Do this by removing the acorn nut, the washer and the spring from the A stud and then the Trigger Bar. Next, attached to the Trigger Bar is the Trigger Finger & Shoe. You will need to remove this Trigger Finger & Shoe from the Trigger Bar. Save the Trigger Finger & Shoe for use in step 4.
Note: If you have an earlier Ransom cable remote trigger system, its removal method is essentially the same as this step and is completed in step 2 with the removal of the B and C nuts.
3. If the studs do not turn easily by hand, refrain from using any plier type tools (including Channel Locks or Vice Grips).
It is best to use the two 5/16-18 nuts (provided in the Hardware Bag) mounted together on the end of the stud. After mounting the two nuts, tighten the two nuts against each other so they are jammed tightly together.
Then, using the ½” open-end wrench, Then, using the ½” open-end wrench, (nut closest to Rocker Arm) and back the stud out to free it from the rocker’s arm.
2. These studs should be installed easily by hand. If not, refrain from using jaw-gripping tools like pliers to force them into the rest. Rather, check to ensure the thread is properly started and avoid cross-threading. Use one of the 5/16-18 nuts in the Hardware Bag to first test for any debris or burrs in the stud threads.
If needed, you can use the two-nut jam method mentioned above. But if you use this method to install the studs, make sure to thread them into the rest properly by hand. Cross-threading or damage to your rest threads is your responsibility to avoid. As mentioned, it’s best to try threading by hand.
Once the new studs are installed, attach the ANSI 5/16 mill spec washers and nuts (both provided) onto the studs.
3. You must adjust the stud so the shoulder of the reduced diameter portion is just inside the face-edge of the nut; you do not want the shoulder protruding beyond. The new remote needs to butt solidly against the flat nut-face, not the stud shoulder.
4. Once the studs are removed, recover the two jammed nuts for use with the new replacement B and C studs in Step 3. Then save the old B and C studs, washers, and acorn nuts for future use.
Step 4
You can now attach the remote main body to the Ransom Master Series Rest. The “Ransom Rest” engraving on the remote will be facing outward from the Rest with the A, B and C studs aligned to the proper holes.
Next, attach the brass washer and the acorn nut previously removed from your Trigger Bar A stud that you disassembled. Then, attach to the remaining studs the two brass washers and acorn nuts provided in your Hardware Bag package.
Note: If you would prefer to have a quick-release option for the LRP which replaces the acorn nuts, please contact us. We will be happy to help!
Installation is now complete. Congratulations!!! And, Happy Testing!
